About Jamie Birchfield

A Little About Me...

My journey as a photographer began as a child looking through all the old photographs of past generations my Grandmother had kept in boxes.  I inherited some of them and I cherish all those images of relatives I never met, some images are over 100 years old.  My love for photography grew from there and throughout my life I have always wanted to capture those moments in time of my family history.

I went back to school after years of working in non-profit organizations and I rediscovered a lifelong passion for photography.  I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors Degree in University Studies with a minor in photojournalism and psychology.  My studies were concentrated in fine art photography, photojournalism and multi-media.  My images have been published in four books produced by Southern Illinois University.  And as
a member of WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) and PPA (Professional Photographers of America) I continue to learn.

I was born and raised in Poplar Bluff Missouri and moved to Illinois twenty-five years ago. I love my husband and all our four-legged children (Dobermans).  I volunteer my photography time at Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation to help save injured and orphaned wildlife and my church Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Herrin Il.

I am blessed to live in the country on 60 acres between two lakes with lots of wildlife including a resident eagle who passes over flying from one lake to the other.   I do also love to travel, especially to the beach and the majority of my weddings are out of state.  I have photographed from Chicago to St. Louis and Destin Florida and locations in between.

My husband is a retired Army Reserve Colonel and a retired Police Lieutenant ~ we understand what it means to serve your country and community ~ therefore, we offer all current active duty military, Reserve or National Guard as well as all full-time Law Enforcement and full-time Firefighters a 10% discount.
